Out of nowhere, a roar came closer. A chilling sensation crept up my spine, signaling wickedness nearby. Dread overwhelmed me, and my eyelids popped open. Then I saw Noah’s composed face.
“Carmen, are you okay? My love, you keep jerking in your seat.”
My entire body trembled as he leaned over, touched my outstretched palm on the table, and settled back into his chair. He flexed his muscles and sighed as he dragged his tablet closer to his frame.
“Sweetie, are you sure everything is fine with you?” His wrinkled forehead and his piercing glare bore into my face.
The only break taken since morning was to prepare a romantic dinner. And a pre-nap before wrapping up my computer code. My eyeballs grew tired and strained from prolonged screen-staring. My stare met Noah’s, and without hesitation, I responded to him.
“Yes, I’m sleepy,” I yawned. “I guess the noise came from hover jets overhead. Give me ten minutes to rest, code my last line, and then supper.”
“Sounds good, a solid plan.”
My hand trembled when my fingers dragged my laptop from across the table, but my attention veered to the laptop screen. What if exhaustion wasn’t the cause, but my paranormal gift was activating instead?
Have you ever wondered why the Heavens roar when it thunders from a Biblical point of view? Yes, we know that thunder happens when lightning passes through the air. The lightning discharge heats the air rapidly and causes it to expand. That is the scientific explanation. What about the spiritual point of view?
“Listen carefully to the thunder of God's voice as it rolls from his mouth. It rolls across the heavens, and his lightning flashes in every direction. Then comes the roaring of the thunder— the tremendous voice of his majesty. He does not restrain it when he speaks.” (Job 37:2-13-NLT)
As a child, I was told when there was thunder, “God is speaking, so stop and listen.”
I have stopped and listened ever since because our Heavenly Father speaks to us daily, many times during the day. If we take a moment and listen, we as a people will hear his sweet voice, which will lead us to eternal life.
