Simeon finally touched and held the King of Kings, and can you imagine falling in love immediately with the creator of the earth as you embrace him in your arms. I can’t fathom the exhilaration he felt in his heart and soul. The light finally came to a dark world to show us how to live in harmony and peace. The world’s darkness was devastating to the ancient civilization, and seeing a glorious light appear on a dark, cold night in a shepherd field — frightening yet wonderful. The shepherds received a light gift and moved from the fields to a house to a stall where animals slept to see a miracle, the promised Messiah.

Just as Simeon held a child in his arms, so did the Shepherds have the light in their hearts as well. Yeshua (Jesus) came to bring joy, love, and life in HIM so we could live eternally with HIM in Heaven. Today as many of us celebrate Christmas, Kwanza, and Hanukkah, let’s light the menorah in our hearts, bringing light to the temple of our hearts.
